Robb Becomes Three-Time Champion; King Wins First Title

Peyton Robb became Owatonna High School's first three-time state wrestling champion Saturday with an 8-2 decision over Austin Brenner of St. Cloud Tech at 160 pounds. Robb finished his senior season at 48-0 and his career at 197-25, the second-most wins in school history. OHS junior Cade King also finished an unbeaten season (44-0) with a 6-4 decision over Calvin Sund of Prior Lake at 182 pounds. King was a runner-up in 2017.

Robb won his first three matches by fall at Xcel Energy Center, including a :27 stick in the semifinals. Robb is Owatonna's all-time leader with over 100 career pins. The future South Dakota state wrestler made five state tournament appearances, winning three titles and finishing in second once. Owatonna's two-time state champs include Bob Henry (1961, 1962), Derek Johnson (1999, 2000) and Brandon Moen (2016, 2017).

King was making his fourth state appearance as an individual. He finished second at 152 pounds last year and wrestled at 132 in 2016. He opened this year's tournament with a technical fall and followed with a decision and major decision leading up to Saturday's finals.

Huskies' freshman Blake West, appearing at his first individual state tournament, won his first two matches and finished in fifth place. Junior Nick Staska and senior Parker Westphal were also making their individual tournament debuts.
