If you need a smile as you head back to work on a beautiful weather day, a flashback to the antics of Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote should do it.

"Beep. Beep." Those were the only words uttered in the classic cartoons. There was never a surprise ending. I believe that Wile E. actually caught Road Runner just once. And then he didn't know what to do with him. But I always enjoyed the show.

Recently a list of the rules of Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote cartoons was circulated.

  • no words, except "Beep. Beep."
  • Road Runner cannot cause physical harm to Wile E.
  • gravity should be Wile E's biggest enemy
  • Road Runner must stay on the road

The list was revealed in the book Chuck Amuck: The Life and Times of an Animated Cartoonist, written by former Looney Tunes animator Chuck Jones.

As a kid, I assumed there was actually an Acme Co. that made anvils and must have been the top corporation in America.
