The 13th annual run benefits the Owatonna Rotary Club's STRIVE program. The run is Saturday, August 20, during the Steele County Free Fair and will be a 5K event this year.

Previously the run was four miles but is switching to a 5K, which is about 3.2 miles. A two-mile walk is also an option again this year.

The race course begins and ends at Owatonna High School, winding its way through residential neighborhoods on a mainly flat course. It is a certified and chip-timed event. Participants receive a dry-fit t-shirt with their registration fee. The cost is $25 through Wednesday, August 17. After that date, the cost is $30 at race-day registration beginning at 7:30AM that morning. Online registration is open. The race starts at 9AM.

Medals are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each age division.

There will also be a 400- and 800-meter run for those 12 and younger for $1. Registration is on the day of the run. All kids who take part will get a ribbon.

Proceeds go to the Owatonna Rotary Club's STRIVE program for student scholarships. The program rewards students who take a renewed interest in the value of education.
