The American Red Cross has issued an appeal for blood, especially type O negative and AB type blood.  While our weather for the most part has been somewhat peaceful, other parts of the country in March have been forced to cancel about 250 blood drives due to the weather. This translates into more than 8,500 units of blood not being donated. This has resulted in a very strong need for Type O negative and type AB plasma for hospitals.

Here's a look at some upcoming blood drives in our area. On Friday, March 31, there will be a drive at Lowes in Owatonna from 11AM to 5PM and at the Faribault Evangelical Free Church from 11:30AM to 5:30PM.

Saturday, April 1, there will be a blood drive at Family Video in Waseca from 11AM to 4PM. On Monday, April 3, there will be a blood collection at the Owatonna hospital from 9AM to 3PM. You may also donate blood at the Dodge Center American Legion on Tuesday, April 4, from 1-7PM. There's a blood drive in Faribault on Wednesday, April 5, at the Eagles Club from 12:30-6:30PM and on Thursday, April 6, at the Eagles from 8:30AM to 1:30PM.
