It's taken a bit longer than expected but the Minnesota Department of Transportation has set a re-opening date for County Road 18 which spans I-35. Weather permitting the road and bridge should open August 13 just in time for the Steele County Free Fair. Cross your fingers as this is a popular route when wanting to zip to the other side of Owatonna.

Crews are preparing the approach road with excavation, grading, paving, striping and installing a guard rail. The bridge deck has been poured and the barriers on the bridge are scheduled to be poured soon.

MNDot also reminds motorists to expect backups on I-35 near Faribault. They're repaving the southbound lanes. Currently traffic is in single lanes north and south as construction crews prepare to move traffic onto the northbound lanes so it will be limited to single lands in each direction in the northbound lanes.

Remember to slow down when approaching construction zones.
