The Minnesota Department of Transportation has opened a public comment period for residents to offer feedback on the next round of funding from the Corridors of Commerce program. In a news release this week, state senator John Jasinski, a Faribault Republican, urges Steele and Dodge County residents to share their opinions to include Highway 14 funding in the next round of appropriations.

He states, "Highway 14 is absolutely critical to our area, and this is how we are going to get it done. Last year I made it a top priority to deliver more money for the Corridors or Commerce program specifically to finish the Highway 14 expansion; now residents of our area have to make our voices heard so those in charge know how important it is."

Those who would like to comment can go to the Corridors of Commerce website and submit an online opinion. The comment period is open through February 5. Jasinski is the vice chair of the Senate Transportation Committee. He indicates that $400-million is earmarked for the Corridors of Commerce program over the next four years.
