The Steele County Historical Society is now accepting nominations for its 2016 Preservation Awards. Each year, two Steele County buildings or properties are recognized for their outstanding preservation and/or restoration efforts.

Properties should accurately reflect the architecture of the time it was built. Nominations may include homes, businesses, farmsteads or other rural properties.

Previous honorees include: St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the West Hill Complex and Lerberg's store, among others.

To nominate a property, submit a letter explaining why you have chosen the property along with background information and a photograph to the Steele County Historical Society 1700 Austin Road, Owatonna, MN 55060.

Nominations are due by April 1. Honorees will be announced in May during National Preservation Month.
