Several Owatonna players will continue their hockey season this weekend in all-star festivals in the Twin Cities. Zach Wiese earned another weekend of action after his performance last weekend. The Final 54 Festivals, sponsored by Minnesota Hockey, features the top players in their age group from across the state. Wiese, who played in regular rotation on the Huskies' varsity this past season as a sophomore, is on the 16's team for those with a birth year of 2002. The series is at Plymouth Ice Arena. April 20-22 might not be end of the road for Wiese. The news release states, "The top players from each age group will be selected to represent Minnesota Hockey at a national festival/camp, sponsored by USA Hockey." Players can then move on to other national or international competition.

Owatonna's Wyatt Oldenfendt also played on the 16's last weekend, as did Chloe Schmidt for the girls. Matthew DeHaan was on the 17's team last weekend. Casey Johnson, Grace Wolfe and Sydney Hunst will play in the 15's event this weekend.

In other local sports news, only one of the seven Owatonna High School sporting events on the schedule for Tuesday, April 17 was held. OHS boys' tennis topped Rochester John Marshall 4-3 at the Rochester Athletic Club. Huskies' baseball, softball, golf and track was all postponed or canceled.
