Federal authorities say a man arrested today on child pornography charges is a "person of interest" in the 1989 disappearance of Jacob Wetterling. According to the Associated Press, 52-year-old Daniel James Heinrich of Annandale, Minn., is under investigation.

According to KSTP TV, a search warrant was executed on July 28 regarding the Wetterling case and the kidnapping and sexual assault of a Cold Spring, Minn., boy.

Investigators reportedly found more than 100 pictures of suspected child pornography in Heinrich's home, and hours of videos that show neighborhood children in normal, everyday activities.

They also stated that recently tested clothes worn by Wetterling in 1989 contain DNA belonging to Heinrich. He was interviewed about Wetterling's case and denies being involved. Stearns County Sheriff John Sanner said that Heinrich was looked at closely back then and is known to the department.

Jacob's mother, Patty, became a national advocate for missing children after the abduction. The Associated Press issued a statement from the Wetterling family thanking all working on the investigation, and saying that they would watch the developments with everyone else.
