Most of the current Owatonna varsity football players were on the other side of this experience as elementary players.

They were the kids looking up to the varsity players who led them through drills, skills and games during the Huskies youth football camp. Now they are the varsity players serving as role models for the future generation of OHS players.

The annual Owatonna Huskies youth camp runs August 7-10 at the OHS stadium and practice fields from 5:30-8PM. It's open to players entering third through 10th grade. The younger players will learn skills related to all positions. Older players will pick a position on offense and defense to focus on.

The camp brochure indicates this is a non-contact camp, with the main objective of teaching fundamentals of offense, defense and the kicking game. Lead-up games, individual and group drills make up the program. The entire coaching staff acts as instructors along with current and former OHS players.

The cost is $70. Day-of registration is available for those who don't get the form returned in time. Owatonna Parks and Recreation youth football program signup will take place on Wednesday, August 9, during the camp. Hy-Vee will host a hot dog cook out on Wednesday. All participants receive a football t-shirt.
