The Owatonna High School wrestling team opened its season Saturday with a second-place finish at the Faribault Dick Shiels Invitational.

Unranked Tri-City United won the team standings in the individual tournament with 195.5 points. No. 7AAA Owatonna had 186 points. Faribault finished third with 179 points.

The Huskies had three individual champions. Defending state champion Peyton Robb won the title at 126 pounds. Robb won the state title at 106 last winter. Brandon Moen captured the title at 182 pounds, beating a wrestler from TCU in the finals. Goy Tut won the title at 220 pounds with two pins on the day.

A trio of Huskies finished second. Trevor Schroeder was runner-up at 120, Dillon Sheehy at 138 and Austin Abbas at 285. Fourth-place finishers were Kaden Nelson at 106, Cameron Roberts at 132, Bryce Goodwin at 145 and Blade Westphal at 160.

The Huskies open their home schedule and the dual meet season Thursday, December 3, against Rochester Mayo at the OHS gym, with radio coverage on Kat Kountry 105FM. The Huskies travel to Farmington on Friday, December 4, to face the defending section champs and top 10-ranked Hastings.

NRHEG wrestling opened their season at the Rochester dual meet tournament Saturday, going 1-2. The Panthers beat Pine Island 40-36, but lost to Stewartville 51-20 and Rochester JM 51-27.

In the latest rankings from the Guillotine, Owatonna is No. 7 in Class AAA. Section opponent Farmington is rated fifth. Lakeville South, new to the section this season, is on the "lean and mean" honorable mention list. St. Michael-Albertville is rated first, while Apple Valley is second. Individually Owatonna's Robb is ranked second at 120, Cade King is fourth at 132, Tanner Cole is fourth at 138, Moen is third at 182, Tut is seventh at 220 and Abbas is seventh at 285.

Minneota is the top A team. Kenyon-Wanamingo is second. Zumbrota-Mazeppa is third. Individually Blooming Prairie sophomore Ethan Arett is ranked fourth at 106 pounds. Triton senior Randy Henderson is fourth at 220 and NRHEG senior Wyatt Fitterer is 10th at 285.

Simley is the top team in AA. Kasson-Mantorville is second. Albert Lea Area is ranked fourth.
