The Owatonna High School athletic department announced this week that the Huskies volleyball team will play several "home" matches at Medford High School.

Due to water damage at the OHS gym from a leak in the roof during a storm in early August, Owatonna's gym has not been available for home matches or practice. The team has been practicing in the junior high gym. Several early season home matches were rescheduled as road games.

Owatonna has worked out details with Medford that will allow the Huskies to host several volleyball matches this season. The home opener for Owatonna will be Tuesday, September 20, against Winona at the Medford gym. Varsity and junior varsity will be held in Medford. B-squad and ninth grade will play at the Owatonna junior high.

Activity tickets and school IDs will be honored for matches in Medford, according to the owatonnaactivies.com website. Other home dates are Thursday, September 22, versus Rochester Century and Tuesday, October 11, against Austin.

Matches against Rochester Mayo on September 29 and Mankato East on October 13 still appear as home matches on the Big 9 website. Medford has a home match on September 29.

The Huskies play at a tournament in Farmington on Saturday, September 17. The September 20 showdown with Winona will be carried on Kat Kountry 105FM.
