Owatonna VFW Post 3723 baseball wrapped up the top seed in the district playoffs with a win at Red Wing on Wednesday and will host games starting Saturday at Fuller Field.

The three-team pool will play a round-robin format Saturday. Eighth-seed Rochester Mayo will square off with ninth-seed Red Wing at 11AM. Owatonna will face the winner at 1:30PM and the loser of the opening game at 4PM. Play will continue Sunday.

Owatonna advanced to the state tournament last summer for the first time. Several core players are back this season. Noah Budach, Brady Schuster, Abe Havelka, Tucker Alstead and Zach Mensink played VFW last summer and several got varsity time this spring with the section runner-up Huskies.

Owatonna earned the top seed with a 13-1 district record this summer.

The American Legion Post 77 team is playing in the elimination round of the District One tournament Friday at Rochester Century High School. Owatonna lost to No. 2 seed Austin on Tuesday. On Thursday, the top-seeded Rochester Patriots and Austin advanced to the winners bracket final and will play Saturday at 1PM.

The Aces amateur team is scheduled to host Pine Island on Friday night at 7:30PM and Stewartville-Racine on Sunday at 5PM (time change) at Dartt's Park.
