Three Owatonna High School teams opened their seasons Thursday hosting Farmington. Results were mixed. The OHS girls soccer team blanked the Tigers 2-0 with goals from Kiley Friedrichs and Stephanie Liebl. The boys soccer match ended in a 1-1 tie after Farmington evened the game with less than a minute to go in regulation. Overtime went by without a goal. Nate Smith scored in the first half for Owatonna. It was a rematch of last season's section title game, won by OHS for their third section title in five years.

Owatonna soccer hosts Lakeville North on Saturday at the Lincoln complex. The boys play at 1PM, followed by the girls at 3PM.

OHS volleyball dropped a 3-1 match to Farmington on Thursday in the OHS gym, the first match there since the 2015 season. Water damage to the gym floor last year forced the Huskies to play their home matches at Medford. Owatonna jumped out to a 25-17 win in the first set, then fell way behind early in the second set. OHS rallied to force overtime, but Farmington won 31-29. It was the Huskies getting out to the early lead in the third set, but the Tigers rallied to win 25-22 and took the fourth set 25-20. Sydney Schultz and Alyvia Johnson had big nights at the net. Owatonna is off until September 7 when they open Big Nine play at Albert Lea.

The Huskies girls tennis team opened their home schedule Thursday and kept their season-opening winning streak alive with a 7-0 sweep of Austin and a 6-1 victory over Rochester Century. Owatonna travels to Albert Lea on Tuesday.
