After grabbing a 1-0 lead in the first inning, Owatonna's girls fast-pitch softball team found itself down 6-1 after two innings. The Huskies rallied for a 9-6 win at Faribault on Thursday.

Millie Wanous had a big day at the plate. She singled in the first OHS run. She smacked a solo home run in the fourth inning and added some insurance with a two-run double in the sixth. She also threw out a base runner trying to steal second base.

Owatonna scored four in the fifth to tie the game. It started with a fly ball hit to left by Riley Sheehy, which was dropped by the fielder. Sheehy was making her way toward second by then and the ball was thrown past the bag and she dashed around third to home before the ball could be tracked down in right field. OHS added four hits in the inning.

Pitcher Alexa Sommers doubled to open the sixth to start a three-run rally. Sommers threw the complete game for the win. The left side of the Owatonna infield made several great defensive plays with Jamie Davison and Jenna VonRuden at third base and Ellie Rohman at short stop.

Owatonna (1-1) goes to Mankato East on Saturday at 11AM for a doubleheader.
