After a loss to No. 3AA Le Sueur-Henderson, the Owatonna fast-pitch softball team scored a pair of lopsided wins to take the consolation trophy at the Shakopee tournament.

In the opener, the third-ranked Giants scored two in the first inning. The score remained stuck there until Owatonna scored in the seventh on an RBI-single by Ellie Rohman. Alexa Sommers scattered seven hits while pitching the complete game. She struck out one and did not issue a walk. Riley Sheehy had three hits.

In the consolation semifinals, the Huskies scored 10 runs in the first three innings on the way to a 15-5, six-inning victory over Big Lake. Jenna "Rosie" VonRuden went 4-for-4 with two RBI. Jenna Zeman hit a three-run home run. Tiana Blazek fanned three and allowed five hits.

OHS pulled away from Apple Valley in the consolation final with an eight-run seventh inning to beat the Eagles 14-3. Jamie Davison had an RBI-double in the seventh. Sheehy tripled in a run. Millie Wanous hit a two-run double. Alex Sommers hit a sacrifice fly and Kirstin Pumper drove in two with a double. Sommers gave up five hits, struck out one and did not walk a batter.

Owatonna (5-4) plays at Red Wing on Tuesday, April 26, and hosts Rochester Mayo on  Thursday, April 28.
