Tom Sager, District Director of Finance and Operations for the Owatonna School District, was a guest on AM1390's Talk of the Town. He provided an update on the Facilities Task Force.

The group composed of 36 members has been meeting regularly for several months determining a 10- to 15-year plan for the district. All the schools were assessed based on four areas: safety and security, space and capacity, educational adequacy and deferred maintenance.

The group will make their two recommendations to the school board Monday, May 11, at 6:30PM.

One recommendation is to take the sixth grade out of Willow Creek School and move it to the junior high, and make Willow Creek an elementary school. Washington School would be taken offline for student learning. The second recommendation involves the building of a new high school or renovation of the current high school.
