The Owatonna Police Department has issued a Public Safety Bulletin after a man chased a group of children Sunday, July 29. He did not catch or touch any of the youth. The same man was also seen looking into vehicles before the incident with the children.

A citizen reported a white male 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-9, 20-30 years old, blonde with a ponytail, looking into cars. He was wearing shorts, a tank top and no shoes. The suspicious activity occurred at Willow Run Townhomes at 2650 3rd Ave NE around 6:45 pm Sunday.

A couple of hours later he was seen hiding in bushes near the retention pond on 26th St NE. Some children playing nearby saw him and he subsequently chased them. An adult witnessed this activity. The children were frightened and reported it to adults. The suspect dropped a backpack while running.

The Owatonna Police Department requests anyone with information on the man's identity, contact the department at 507-444-3800. They also caution parents to supervise their children while they are playing outside and report suspicious activity to 9-1-1.
