The City of Owatonna Human Rights Commission presents Martin Luther King Jr. Day breakfast on Monday, Jan. 19, at Plaza Morena Campestre Grill on 26th Street in Owatonna.

A complimentary breakfast will be served from 6:30-7 a.m., then the presentation will be from 7-7:45 a.m.

The presentation will feature Anita Patel, YWCA of Minneapolis vice president for racial justice and public policy.

Patel joined the YWCA of Minnepolis in 2005 and has been instrumental in creating initiatives that have expanded the reach of YWCA racial justice programs throughout corporate, government and nonprofit sectors. She has trained more than 3,000 racial justice facilitators, and more than 15,000 participants throughout the Midwest have benefited from her presentations.

In 2011, Patel was honored with the Hubert H. Humphrey Public Leadership Award.

In 2009, Patel was named one of the Top Outstanding Minnesotans by the MN Jaycees and one of the Top Leaders under 30 by Minnesota Business magazine.

Patel has a Masters of Public Policy degree from the U of M's Humphrey School of Public Affairs and is a graduate of Valparaiso University.
