Owatonna Hospital Lands Women’s Choice Award

Owatonna Hospital, part of Allina Health, has received a Women's Choice Award for its emergency care, according to a press release.

The 2016 honor goes to hospitals that ranked among the best in the performance of their emergency department. In the release, Owatonna Hospital president David Albrecht says, "We're proud to be recognized in this way. This award is acknowledgement of the dedication and commitment to high quality care, patient satisfaction and excellence that our employees and physicians work hard to achieve every day."

Among the criteria used by Women's Choice is the average time patients spend in the emergency department before being admitted, average time spent before receiving pain-relieving medication and the percentage of patients with stroke symptoms who received brain scan results within 45 minutes of arrival. Overall there are eight items in the ranking system.

The news release states that a survey of more than 1,000 women was used in their analysis. Albrecht added, "We're honored to be acknowledged on a national level for the services we provide. It's always been about providing safe, quality and exceptional care."

Allina Health is a not-for-profit health care system with more than 90 clinics, 13 hospitals, 16 retails pharmacies and specialty care centers.
