Owatonna Girls Hockey Falls in Holiday Tournament Opener

The Huskies fell to Fort Francis, Ontario 4-1 Monday in the opener of the Bronze Division of the Schwan Cup tournament in Blaine. 

Margo Achterkirch put the Huskies on the board 49 seconds into the first period. Fort Francis evened the game 30 seconds later and scored three times in the second period. Owatonna out shot Fort Francis 18-14. OHS (7-3) plays St. Francis at 2:30PM Tuesday in the consolation bracket at the Super Rink in Blaine. St. Francis (6-6) lost 2-0 to Green Bay Monday.

The Owatonna boys' hockey team begins play in the round-robin Duluth Heritage tournament Tuesday at 1PM versus St. Louis Park. Owatonna (3-2) plays Sheboygan, WI Wednesday afternoon at 1PM and Apple Valley Thursday at 12:30PM. The Huskies host North St. Paul Saturday December 31 at Four Seasons at 12PM.

The unbeaten NRHEG (5-0) boys' basketball team begins play in the Bethany tournament in Mankato Tuesday at 6PM against Le Sueur-Henderson (1-6). The Panthers just beat the Giants 73-47 on December 20. Triton boys' basketball hosts Glenville-Emmons in a non-conference game.

Triton girls' basketball is at the Randolph tournament and faces Trinity at 6PM Tuesday. Dodge County girls' hockey plays in the Farmington tournament.
