Representatives from the Owatonna Foundation recently gave sixth grade students at the Owatonna Middle School a lesson in Philanthropy. As part of the Junior Achievement Biz Town Program's Philanthropy lesson, the students had the opportunity to make four $100 donations to local charities with the students choosing the charities.

The sixth graders were on four different teams. After the discussion the students were asked to select a charity that would receive the $100 donation from their team. One team chose the Steele County Food Shelf for a donation. The other three teams chose to donation their $100 to the We All Play project. This project is an attempt to create a fully accessible playground and Miracle Ball Field in Owatonna.

The Owatonna Foundation which is celebrating their 60th anniversary this year supplied the $400 to donate.
