The Owatonna Foundation has announced a total of $104,028 in grants awarded.

Recipients are St. Mary's School, receiving $58,500 for a fire-rated wall and door system. Little Theater of Owatonna was awarded $20,000 to be used for a sound system upgrade, which will not only create better sound, but it will be particularly effective for those who enjoy performances wearing hearing aids. The Owatonna High School Athletic Department was given a grant of $12,700 for a fully automated electronic track timing system to be used during practices and competitions. The Steele County Historical Society received $8,315 for roof repairs to the Museum of Professions, the General Store and the Caboose at the Village of Yesteryear. The Owatonna Business Incubator received $4,528 for a key fob secured entry for their facility.

The foundation encourages 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations in Owatonna and its environs to apply for grants. The next grant application deadline is September 1, 2016.
