OHS powered a pair of home runs, but Lakeville North amassed nearly 15 hits while winning the Section 1AAAA quarterfinal 8-4. Both teams continue Thursday in Austin.

No. 3 seed Lakeville North scored a run in the first, added four in the second and led the whole way. All the Huskies' runs came on home runs. Kenzie Karsten hit a solo shot in the fourth and Millie Wanous smashed a three-run blast in the fifth that pulled Owatonna within 6-4. North tacked on two in the bottom of the inning for the 8-4 final margin.

Both teams go to Austin on Thursday in the double-elimination tournament. The Huskies play a must-win game at 5PM against Rochester Century, a team OHS beat 8-1 in late April.

Big Nine teams went 0-4 in the 1AAAA quarterfinal games.

NRHEG buried Maple River in a first-round Section 2AA game 26-0. The Panthers had split their games with the Eagles during the regular season. No. 7 seed NRHEG goes to No. 2 Jordan on Thursday at 5PM.

The No. 6 seeded Triton softball team scored a first-round upset 5-4 over No. 3 Rochester Lourdes, concluding a game that was suspended by the weather on Monday. The Cobras go to Pine Island on Wednesday at 5PM.
