December 5-7, DECA Chapters gathered in Minneapolis for the DECA 2014 Central Region Leadership Conference.  Chapters included students from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North and South Dakota, Ohio, and Wisconsin.  In all 2700 high school students attended the conference, including 23 students from OHS.

Along with business and college fairs, there was an opportunity to do a practice role play and get feedback from judges in areas to improve before competitions.  The National Anthem was sung by Kat Perkins from The Voice Season 6.  Keynote speaker Josh Shipp motivated students to be their best and be a leader, and Hypnotist Brian Imbus hypnotized 20 DECA students.

Plus there was workshops and breakout sessions to choose from.  Workshops included:

  • From the Judges Chair--giving insight on what judges are looking for in competition,
  • How to Stand Out in a Noisy World--giving tips on how to make yourself stand out to colleges, employers, and more.

The Closing Ceremony included speaker Adam Ace. The DECA students will go on to District competition in January.
