With a 7-0 win at the West Hills Tennis Center on Tuesday in the Section 1AA opener, the Owatonna boys tennis team advances to face Rochester Century.

The win was a carbon copy of last week's sweep of the Packers in regular season action. Owatonna (15-4) will look for the upset against the Panthers on Thursday at 4PM at Century High School.

Owatonna's girls lacrosse squad lost 4-3 to Mankato at OHS. That creates a virtual tie for first in the Big Nine Conference with one loss each for the Huskies and Mankato. Owatonna has games remaining with Century and John Marshall. Mankato has only Northfield left on its schedule.

The OHS boys lacrosse team whipped Mankato 12-2 Tuesday and remains in a first-place tie atop the Big Nine standings at 7-1 with Northfield. Owatonna goes to Rochester Century on Friday.

OHS baseball scored early and beat Faribault 7-4 to snap a four-game losing streak. The two teams worked together before the game to prepare the field after a downpour in Faribault postponed the start of the game at Bell Field. The Huskies host Northfield in a doubleheader Thursday.

The No. 2 Faribault softball team stayed unbeaten with a 5-0 win. Owatonna had runners on second and third in the first inning but couldn't score. Runners got more scarce as the game continued. OHS plays a doubleheader at Northfield on Thursday at 4PM. The first game counts in the conference standings and will be broadcast on KRFO AM 1390. Faribault hosts Mankato West on Thursday in a showdown for the Big Nine Conference championship.
