Huskies' senior Nate Smith scored a pure hat trick in Owatonna's 4-1 win over Apple Valley Saturday afternoon at the Lincoln Soccer Complex in Owatonna.

Speaking on the KRFO coaches show Saturday morning, before the win over Apple Valley, OHS coach Bob Waypa said the Huskies are getting good scoring chances, even in recent losses to section opponents Rochester Mayo and Lakeville South.

Owatonna (5-5-2) hosts Red Wing (1-9) Tuesday and Faribault (4-3-4) Thursday at Lincoln with a 7PM start for each match. The Owatonna girls (9-3) put their five-game winning streak on the line with road games at Red Wing (2-7) and Faribault (1-9-2) this week.

The Huskies girls tennis team captured the Litchfield tournament Saturday. Assistant coach Beth Fink reports OHS players won the first and second singles spots along with the third doubles position. Owatonna's No. 1 doubles was second and the other spots all took third.

The regular season wraps up this week with a home match against Mankato East Tuesday and a road trip to Mankato West Thursday. The Big Nine Conference meet is Saturday September 30 in Rochester. Section play begins Tuesday October 3. The Huskies are 15-1 in dual meets this season.

Owatonna's cross country teams were involved in huge meets over the weekend. The boys ran at the Roy Griak meet at the University of Minnesota, while the girls were at the Milaca Mega Meet. Blooming Prairie was also at Milaca, where Alec Ille turned in a top ten finish.
