The Huskies are aiming for their third state tournament appearance in the past four years when they square off with Rochester Mayo on Wednesday at 7PM. The match is at Mayo.

The Huskies tied the Spartans 1-1 early in the season. The Spartans went 9-0-1 in the conference to win the Big Nine title and earn the top seed in the section. The Huskies were 9-1-1 in the conference with a one-goal loss to Mankato West.

Owatonna (13-2-2) has won 10 straight, with eight of those by shutout. Both of the Huskies playoff wins have been 1-0 finals. Mayo (14-1-3) is unbeaten over their past 10 games, with a 3-3 tie against Mankato West. Six of the wins have been by shutout. The Spartans have outscored their playoff opponents 10-0.

Owatonna was the runner-up against Rochester JM last season and won the Section 1AA title in 2012 and 2013.

In the 1AA girls' soccer final, top-ranked Lakeville North hosts Rochester Century, who is the No. 7 seed and has scored a pair of shootout upsets and has not scored a regulation goal yet in the section tournament.

The Section 2A soccer semifinals are Wednesday. In boys action Faribault goes to St. Peter and Mankato East is at Albert Lea. The girls 2A semifinals are Albert Lea at Mankato East and Northfield at St. Peter.
