The Owatonna boys basketball team beat Milwaukee South in the first round of the Federated Tournament and face Duluth East in Wednesday's final.

The game started with a series of turnovers between the Huskies and Cardinals and ended with Owatonna holding on for a 53-51 win. Milwaukee South hit a three-pointer at the buzzer for the final margin. The Huskies forced more than 20 turnovers and held their game total to under 10. Eli Havelka scored 15 points and grabbed six rebounds. Jay Sullivan, with 10 points, was the only other Husky in double figures. The Cardinals had three players reach double figures and beat Owatonna in rebounding.

Owatonna (6-4) faces Duluth East (6-4) in Wednesday's final at about 7:45PM on KRFO AM 1390. The Greyhounds rallied past Waseca 62-59 in the tournament opener. The Blue Jays and Milwaukee South meet at 6PM in the third-place contest.

 

Owatonna's girls basketball team fell to Rosemount 58-45 at the St. Cloud Tech tournament. The Huskies went 1-1 in the event with a win over the host team on Monday. Sydney Schultz scored 13. Rachel Williamson added 11 for the Huskies. Owatonna (4-5) plays at Albert Lea on Tuesday, January 5, on Kat Kountry 105FM.

 

At the Rumble on the Red wrestling tournament, three Huskies advanced to Wednesday's second day of action. Peyton Robb is 3-0 with one pin at 120 pounds to reach the semifinals. Brandon Moen is also 3-0 with one pin at 182 to make it to the semifinals. Tanner Cole is 3-1 and still alive in the wrestle backs.

In the team standings, Owatonna is tied for 19th place with Lakeville North. The top five teams are Waconia, Scott West, Willmar, Delano and Dover-Eyota.
