After each playing a pair of holiday games, the Owatonna basketball teams return to Big Nine Conference play with Albert Lea and Red Wing ahead for the boys and girls.

The Owatonna boys basketball team will face the extremes of the Big Nine with cellar-dwelling Albert Lea (0-9 overall, 0-8 in the conference) Tuesday and No. 2AAA Red Wing (10-0, 8-0) Friday. Both games are at the OHS gym. The Huskies (7-4, 5-3) are on a four-game winning streak. Friday's game will be on KRFO AM 1390.

No. 6AAAA Rochester JM is also unbeaten in conference games at 7-0. No. 3AAA Austin is 5-2. Owatonna and Mankato East are tied for fourth place with 5-3 records. In Section 1AAAA six of the eight teams have a record at .500 or better. Lakeville North (10-1) heads the section.

On Saturday's KRFO coach show Owatonna's Josh Williams recapped the Federated tournament championship and looked ahead on the coming games.

 

The Owatonna girls basketball team will go on the road for games this week. The Huskies (4-5, 2-3) play at Albert Lea (1-8, 0-6) Tuesday and Red Wing (4-4, 4-2) Friday. Both games can be heard on Kat Kountry 105FM.

Rochester John Marshall leads the Big Nine standings at 6-1. A three-way for second place includes No. 5AAAA Rochester Mayo, No. 2AAA Winona and Rochester Century at 5-1. No. 6AAAA Lakeville North and Rochester Mayo top the Section 1AAAA standings at 9-1.

Huskies coach Tricia Hoffman talked about a good tournament trip to St. Cloud Tech and scouted the upcoming games during the KRFO coach show interview.
