The Aces amateur team beat Waseca 5-1 behind efforts from Tyler Smith and Brandon Wolf. Owatonna VFW clobbered Rochester JM 14-5.

It's been a good week for Owatonna baseball. The Aces, Legion and VFW have a combined 4-1 record over the past couple of days. On Wednesday, the Aces topped the Waseca Braves 5-1. Tyler Smith earned the win on the mound. Brandon Wolf hit a home run. The Aces are off until Wednesday, July 8, when they host the Hayfield Heat at Dartts Park.

Owatonna's VFW Post 3723 put on an early fireworks display with a 15-hit attack in their 14-5 victory at Rochester John Marshall. Tucker Alstead had three hits and was one of three pitchers to work. Brady Schuster and Bryce Knutson also threw. Owatonna plays a doubleheader at Austin on Thursday at 5PM.

American Legion Post 77 is scheduled to play a twin bill at Albert Lea on Thursday at 5:30PM. Owatonna is coming off a split with the Rochester Red Hawks on Tuesday.

The summer baseball season has passed the midway point. Playoffs begin for the VFW and Legion in about three weeks. Playoffs for the Aces start around the end of July.
