The Owatonna Aces amateur baseball pulled off a come-from-behind 7-6 win over Dodge County on Wednesday night at Fuller Field at Dartt's Park.

The Aces strung together a few hits and got some help with wild pitching to stay unbeaten on the season. Trailing 7-3 in the last of the ninth, Tyler Smith and Benji Hager singled, Matt Simon walked to load the bases with no one out. Brandon Wolf singled to short left field to push one run in. Owatonna runners crossed home plate on two pitches that got by the catcher to tie the game at 6-6.

Wolf scored from third on a sharp single to right by Dexter Leer for the 7-6 victory. Wolf earned the complete game victory. The Diamondbacks touched him for three runs in the first and three more in the third. Wolf only surrendered three hits over the final six innings and did not allow a player to reach third base. Wolf struck out seven in the game.

The Aces defense made several great plays. At first base, Simon picked up a short hop on a hard hit ball in the fourth inning and tossed it to Wolf covering the bag. Hager made a sliding catch in right field in the fifth inning. Smith hustled on a slow dribbler up the third base line and made the throw to first in time in the seventh inning.

Owatonna (6-6) also scored a comeback win at Winona on Saturday. The Aces play at Blue Earth on Saturday at 2PM and at Wanamingo on Sunday at 2PM. The schedule shows the next home game as June 14 versus Stewartville.

Owatonna's VFW team opened the night Wednesday with a 10-9 victory over Albert Lea. The Post 77 American Legion team opens its season Thursday night at Waseca at 6:30PM. Owatonna hosts East Ridge on Saturday at 7PM at Dartt's Park.
