The season ended for the Owatonna Aces amateur baseball team Sunday with a loss to Wanamingo. Meanwhile Waseca earned a trip to state with a victory over Stewartville-Racine.

Owatonna played three close games in the Region 5C event. They lost to Dodge County on Wednesday 3-2, edged Zumbrota 4-3 in 10 innings Saturday and dropped a 3-2 decision to Wanamingo on Sunday at Fuller Field at Dartt's Park. The Aces went to state last summer.

On the other side of the bracket, third-seed Waseca scored a pair of upsets to wrap up a state tournament berth. The Braves topped second-seed Wanamingo 4-2 in 12 innings Saturday and shocked top-seed Stewartville-Racine on Sunday evening with a come-from-behind 6-4 win. Waseca scored three runs in the ninth to pull off the win.

While the Braves are guaranteed a spot in the state tournament, they will be back at Fuller Field on Sunday at 11AM against the team that survives the losers bracket action on Saturday. The top two teams from Region 5C advance to state, which begins on August 19. The top seed earns a more favorable match-up at state.
