Tommy James wrote "Tighter, Tighter" to release as a single. When he did record it, the song didn't have the right sound. He remembered a group from Brooklyn that a friend of a friend had pointed out to him.

He called Alive 'N Kickin' and asked them to record the song after he changed it to a duet to fit the group's male and female lead singers. They added the guitars, keyboards and horns with the lead singers, along with Tommy James as back-up.

The song was taken to James' label and it went to No. 1, according to songfacts.com.

Members of Alive 'N Kickin' are lead singers Pepe Cardona and Sandy Toder, Bruce Sudano on keyboards, John Parisio on guitar, Ron Pell on drums, Woody Wilson on bass guitar, Rich Luisi on bass guitar and Doria Biunno.

Alive 'N Kickin' appeared on Dick Clark's American Bandstand and the Mike Douglas Show, according to classicbands.com.

The group toured with Chicago and Seals and Crofts, among others. The original group disband but reformed in the mid-'70s and became the top club band in the area. They now play premier night clubs, weddings and summer concerts in the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut area.

Alive 'N Kickin' also released "Just Let It Come" and a remake of "London Bridges."

Bruce Sudano moved to California, where he met and married Donna Summer. Another note from alive-n-kickin.com, Tim Cardona, Pepe's son, plays guitar in the band.
