The OHS girls and boys lacrosse teams hope to continue their record setting seasons during the playoffs. GIRLS GAME PPD TO Wed at 5:00. Boys at Lakeville South Tues.

School record victory total.....single season scoring record

Those facts are true for BOTH the boys and girls lacrosse squads at Owatonna High School. Each team went through the season at 10-3; a record total for each program. The single-season goal total record was also set for each team this spring. Krista Kniefel scored 54 goals to break Ashley Kneifel's record of 42. Michael Schmitz deposited 53 balls into the back of the net for the boys. Each team has had stellar play in goal as well; junior Kacy Borwege for the girls and senior Scott Swenson for the boys.

The girls open the playoffs at home Wednesday at 5:00 vs Rochester Century, who beat the Huskies 5-4 on May 7. Kniefel's goal scoring binge has included 22 tallies over the last four games.

"It's been tremendous in our success."

-Bill Bernard, OHS girls lacrosse coach

Those final four games have featured a number of close battles and one-goal finishes against some tough twin cities schools. The Thursday night home win over Holy Angels gave the Huskies their record tenth win.

"Now it's time for use to get to 11. I think our girls have confidence."

The OHS boys head to Lakeville South Tuesday for a 7:00 face-off. Owatonna had a good tune up for the postseason while beating Andover on Friday 8-5. The top two scorers in the state were featured in the game, but it was Owatonna's depth that made the difference.

"The best spot we could be put in...If we come in like last night (Friday), we're going to have a good game."

-Scott Seykora, OHS boys lacrosse coach
