Owatonna beat Century 40-37 in overtime in a game that featured numerous big plays and kept several OHS winning streaks alive.

Alec Holcomb went into the end zone from 2 yards out to end a wild one at Century High School as the Huskies won 40-37 in overtime. Holcomb had two other TD runs (21 & 39 yards). And he caught a scoring pass from Alex Emanuelson of 19 yards.

The Panthers scored with 15 seconds left in regulation on a 4th and goal to tie the game at 34-34. OHS blocked the extra point to send the game into overtime. Darryl Martin caught the pass to tie the game late, one of three touchdown passes he hauled in. Martin also ran back a punt 84 yards for a touchdown.

Neither team was ever ahead by more than one score. The lead changed hands three times. At 2-0 on the season Owatonna won its 15th consecutive game, 16th straight conference game and 23rd in a row over a conference opponent (counting section playoffs.)

Owatonna opens their home schedule Friday night September 12 vs Faribault. The teams did not meet last season. Friday night there will be a pre-game party from 5:00 - 6:30. It is also the Hall of Fame game with the newest members of the OHS Athletic Hall of Fame to be inducted.

Faribault beat Mankato East Friday night 30-20.....Mayo edged Rochester JM 23-22..... Austin topped Albert Lea 42-41....Mankato West raced by Northfield 62-28....Red Wing beat Winona 21-7, the first win for new Wingers coach (and former Golden Gopher) Rickey Foggie.
