Prior Lake - New Richland Hartland Ellendale Geneva's Trap Shooting team participated in the MSHSL-sanctioned state trap tournament Saturday, finishing 11th out of 24 teams.

The tournament marked the first time a state high school league has sponsored a trap shooting tournament. The Panthers shot 456 (out of a possible 500) to finish in 11th place. The top team, Buffalo, broke 489 clay targets to win the state title. The event was held at the Minneapolis Gun Club in Prior Lake.

Each athlete shot four rounds of 25 targets for a potential score of 100. There was one perfect score during the team competition. The top score was 99 during the individual portion of the tournament.

Over six-thousand student-athletes participated in trap shooting this spring. 185 teams represented students from 380 schools. Locally NRHEG, Blooming Prairie, Medford and Triton all sponsor teams.
