The Northfield Raiders and Mankato East Cougars scored a combined 25 runs on 27 hits and committed 9 errors in an 8 inning first game of a doubleheader in Mankato today.  Northfield won 14-11 while outhitting Mankato East 16-11.  The Cougars jumped out to a 7-1 lead going into the fifth inning and the Raiders rode a 6 run sixth inning to take a 11-7 lead  only to see Mankato East score 4 in the bottom of the 7th and send the game into extra innings.  Northfield scored three runs after there were two outs in the top of the 8th.

Four different pitchers threw for the Raiders and junior Blake Christensen picked up the win while throwing the last two innings.  Junior Luke Johnson started the game and went the first 3 2/3 innings allowing 7 runs, 3 earned on 7 hits, striking out 3 and walking two batters.  Junior Mason Zick threw 2 1/3 innings with 4 strikeouts and 3 walks with two runs , both earned on just one hit.  Senior Samuel Motzko tossed one pitch before Christensen sealed the deal.

Northfield had 4 doubles and two home runs in the game.  Homers were hit by junior Mitchell Stanchina and sophomore Joey Glampe.  Seniors Lars Prestemon and Carter Hodapp, sophomore Luke Stanga and Christensen all had doubles for the Raiders.

The Cougars had no extra base hits.  Sophomore Brandon Schendel threw the final inning for Mankato East and was charged with the loss.

Hodapp and Stanchina had three hits each and Stanga was 4 of 5 at the plate with 3 RBI for Northfield.

The Cougars were led by juniors Jack Clifford and Jake Prybylla with three hits each,

The second game was suspended in the top of the fifth inning with Mankato East at the plate ahead 4-3.  There are two outs.

Junior Michael Ims is pitching for Northfield and sophomore Jaeden Kenward pitched the first inning with 2 strikeouts for Mankato East.  The Cougars have five stolen bases so far.

Ims has scattered 4 hits, walked 3 and struck out 3.  At the plate the junior had two of the Raiders 5 hits.
