No Grand Jury In Jamar Clark Case In Hennepin County

Just shortly after 11AM, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman held a press conference in regards to the Jamar Clark case.

According to the KSTP story, Freeman announced that a grand jury will not be called in the Clark case, and that grand juries will no longer be used in cases involving deadly force by police in Hennepin County.

Freeman also said that he will make the decision whether the officers involved should be charged. He hopes to announce that decision soon.

Clark died after he was shot by a Minneapolis officer during what authorities said was a struggle. A police union spokesman said Clark was shot after reaching for an officer's gun, but others who witnessed the shooting insist Clark was handcuffed and not resisting arrest.

Demonstrators camped out in front of the Fourth Precinct police station in Minneapolis for more than two weeks after the shooting to protest.
