Nine Owatonna athletes will compete in eight events at the state track and field meet at Hamline University in St. Paul beginning Friday morning.

Senior Jacob Johnson qualified in three events. He's back at state in the 110 hurdles after finishing fourth a year ago. He will also run the 300 hurdles and is part of the 4x400 relay with fellow seniors Ryan Guenther and Nick Raichle and junior Jaden Dowhaniuk. Raichle also runs the 400 Friday.

On the girls side, the Huskies 4x100 and 4x200 teams at state consist of senior Steph Kretlow, junior Karissa Gregory and sophomores Syd Schultz and Margo Achterkirch. Schultz will also run the 100. Freshman Syd Kretlow runs the 800.

Triton freshman Nell Graham runs the Class A girls 800 at 5:18PM.

All the events for the local runners are preliminaries on Friday, with finals on Saturday.
