The Owatonna Hospital is now offering a new type of treatment for Parkinson's disease called the Big and Loud therapy.

The classes involve eight exercises emphasizing bigger movements, and the loud part involves speaking louder. Research has shown that concentrating on speaking louder also improves articulation and breathing.

Those who are interested in learning more are invited to an informational session on April 16 at 6 p.m. at the Owatonna Hospital. Reserve your spot by calling (507) 977-2171. Guest speaker Joan Brandl will speak on myths and misconceptions regarding  Parkinson's disease.

Linda Hoffman, manager of the Penny George Institute at the hospital, was our guest on Talk of the Town on AM 1390 on Monday.
