The first Tuesday in August will be National Night Out and Night to Unite. Both are an event to enhance relationships with neighbors and law enforcement.

National Night Out will be held in Ellendale at the City Park from 5:30-7:30PM.

The night will include visits with members of the local Fire Department and EMTs. Members of the Sheriff's Department will be there and a State Patrol helicopter will land at the Ellendale Methodist Church.

You're invited to bring a picnic and there will be root beer floats provided by the city and a couple of food vendors will be there. Something fun for the kids, too: tattoos.

Also, Owatonna Park and Recreation has planned a National Night Out event in Central Park from 5-7PM. Members of the Owatonna Police and Fire Department will be there, plus food and games.

Also, the Owatonna Police Department will have Night To Unite on the same night -- Tuesday, Aug. 4. They invite you to register your block party and they will stop by and give a presentation.

Some block parties have had potluck or ice cream socials. Some games for all ages. In the past, parties have collected items to donate.

Get to know your neighbors and members of the police and sheriff departments in a good way. National Night Out and Night To Unite Tuesday, Aug. 4.
