A 39-year-old Morristown woman is charged with second- and third-degree assault, both felony charges, after police say she elbowed a man and then later stabbed him.

According to a report in the Faribault Daily News, Jennifer Marie Larson, 39, is charged with second- and third-degree assault, both felonies. If she is convicted of the maximum, she faces up to 15 years in prison, a $30,000 fine, or both.

According to the complaint filed in Rice County District Court:

On April 4, a Rice County Sheriff's Office deputy was contacted by law enforcement in Waseca regarding an unidentified male who was being treated for a stab wound. The victim was transported to Rochester due to his injuries. The deputy met with Larson, and she told the deputy she and the victim were walking the dog on a bike trail when they came to a parking lot and two to three individuals approached them wanting the victim's money.

The deputy took Larson to the trail where she was unable to come up with a location for the incident. They then went to her residence and no signs of a dog were found. When asked about the dog, Larson said her daughter had picked it up. When the deputy spoke to the daughter, she indicated the dog had not been at Larson's residence for a long time.

The victim provided law enforcement with a recorded statement on Friday. The victim said that he Larson argued about money and then she elbowed him in the face. When they got to the residence the argument continued. He then tried to leave and then she reportedly stabbed him.

On Saturday, Larson provided law enforcement with a statement.

She said the victim was angry upset about money and said she elbowed the man because he was "jerking" the wheel in an attempt to get her pull over. When they got to the residence, the victim was threatening her and she grabbed the knife and turned around. When she did so, she stabbed him.

As of Monday the court records did not reflect Larson's bail status.
