The Minnesota Twins magic number to clinch the final playoff spot in the American League is down to two. They take on the Cleveland Indians tonight, and with a victory, combined with a loss by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, the Twins would be the first ball club in the History of MLB to go from 100+ losses to the Postseason.

It has been a season of magic for the Minnesota Twins. In 2016, they were the worst team in baseball going 59-103. As of September 26th, they sit with a record of 82-74. It is truly a historic turnaround, according to Five Thirty Eight.

Led by the young guns of Byron Buxton, Eddie Rosario, Jorge Polanco and Max Kepler, while getting help from Veterans Joe Mauer and Brian Dozier, the Twins continued to claw and fight. Whenever anyone thought they were finally out of it, they turned it around and got right back into the thick of things.

Buxton is a big reason for it. He has shown that he is the best center fielder in baseball, and he bat has finally come around some, has his average is up to .253.

Plus, he makes catches like THIS. Thanks, MLB via Youtube.

and THIS

Yeah, Buxton's glove is that good!

At the time of the 2017 MLB Draft, the Twins were selecting 1st overall, while leading the AL Central, something that was never done before. Now they look to continue that trend to become the very first team to go from 100+ losses to playoffs.

All year long, everyone continue to say that the Twins were just a good story, that they would not make the playoffs, eventually, the numbers had to catch up with them.

Turns out, they were wrong. The Twins were resilient all year, and continued to find ways to win games. They may have the worst record ever for a team to make the postseason, but when it came time to win games, the Twins figured it out and are now on the cusp of history.

It could be a historic night for the Twins and their fans. If you are intersted in buying playoff tickets, you can do so HERE.
