Chrisitan Leeb moved to Minnesota as an elementary kid who didn't skate. Jordan Jackson moved here after finishing his prep hockey career in New York.

The two are teammates for the 6-3-1 Steele County Blades junior hockey team. Leeb says his parents weren't sure if he would succeed at hockey. He only began playing in sixth grade when his family moved to Mora, Minn. Leeb didn't even know how to skate, but says he was an athletic kid who wanted to play multiple sports.

Jackson grew up in Auburn, N.Y., and started skating at 2 years old, which might be an earlier start then some of his Minnesota-born teammates. Jackson relocated to Owatonna when his father had to move for work. He came to some Blades games and decided to try out with the team.

Steele County has a single game this weekend, playing Saturday November 5 at River Falls. The Blades are home November 11-12 hosting Chicago at the Four Seasons Centre in Owatonna.
