Group Hosts Lizzy’s Light Rally in Owatonna to Bring Suicide Awareness

Lizzy's Light, in honor of Elizabeth "Lizzy" Tolman, is born from tragedy, fueled by passion.

Lizzy's Light has teamed up with local organizations and put together a suicide awareness and prevention rally from 1-4PM on Saturday, June 25, in Central Park in Owatonna.

The goal of Lizzy's Light Project Semicolon is to bring awareness to mental health and suicide with a goal to provide information for those who suffer and their families and friends.

According to Lizzy's Light Facebook page, Amy Bleuel, who is the founder of Project Semicolon, will be at the rally to speak about mental illness, explain the project and provide hope.

The rally will also include information from

• Open Arms Yellow Ribbon Suicide Prevention Program: since 2012, a local nonprofit that is raising awareness and prevention of suicide.
• NAMI (National Alliance of Mental Illness): a national company based locally that educates, advocates, listens and leads to help people affected with mental illness.
• Steele County Safe and Drug Free Coalition: "dedicated to keeping the community and its youth free from the harmful effects of drug, alcohol and tobacco."
• South Central Human Relations Center: A nonprofit dedicated to improving mental health in Steele, Dodge and Waseca counties since 1964
• Fernbrook Family Center: Locally for 10 years has been providing mental health services in seven southern Minnesota counties, including Steele and Rice.
• Zumbro Valley Health Center: In business for 50 years, based in Rochester, "Restoring Hope ... One Life at a Time."

Suicide Awareness and Prevention Rally with Lizzy's Light will be an afternoon of information and entertainment with the "mission to end the stigma associated with suicide and mental health while promoting awareness."
