So yesterday was the Fourth of July. Check out the video we have on the website of a lady singing the national anthem. It is very cool. It brought tears to my eyes.

Of course we also have pretty fireworks to cap off a great day. We usually go to Blooming Prairie. At least one year, I think it was two, my husband and I stayed home to watch fireworks on TV. Boy that is not the same. We even laid on the floor to get that feeling of being outside and watching them. It did not work. Nope. Fireworks should be in person, definitely.

We shut the windows and turn on the A/C so it is not as loud for the kitties, with neighbors sometimes shooting off fireworks.

On to the pretty fireworks. My dad always liked the big BANG, BOOM fireworks. I have gotten so they don't bother me as much. They can do some really cool things with the fireworks. The colors and the sparkles as they come down. I don't know if that is the right word, but for me it works.

We did see a couple of airplanes fly by and wonder are they able to see a bunch of fireworks as they fly across to where they are going.

It is kind of cool as the fireworks light up the sky and the smoke from the previous ones fill up behind them. We tried to capture that. Maybe it worked. But fireworks really are fun, loud and colorful.

I think this is the first year I remember Blooming Prairie playing music with the fireworks. We heard Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA," Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the U.S.A," Katy Perry's "Firework" and a rendition of "Amazing Grace."

Happy Fifth of July.

The sun is shining above ... Think Happy Thoughts.
