Once again the Owatonna Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism will host a Running for Office event. It's an opportunity to learn the steps that need to be taken to run for public office. It'll be held at the Baymont Inn and Suites in Owatonna starting at 5:30PM on Thursday, May 3. This is a free event.

There will be information packets explaining the steps that need to be taken to run for a position on the City Council, Steele County Commissioner, Owatonna School Board or State Legislature. The packets will contain information on important dates, descriptions of the positions along with campaign finance reports and more.

Attendees will also be able to draw upon the experience of past and current holders of public office. Among the panelists expected are  Doug Voss, Greg Krueger ,Corey Mensink and Kory Kath. The above mentioned have experience as members of the City Council, County Commissioner, School Board and State Legislature.

This gathering is open to the public. A reminder that the filing period for county seats begins May 22.

Lots of victories for the Huskies Monday night.
