The Lakeville jinx continued Tuesday as the No. 6 seed Panthers won at No. 3 seed Owatonna 9-8 in triple overtime in girls lacrosse in the Section 1 quarterfinals.

Whatever the season, whatever the sport, Lakeville North seems to have Owatonna's number. Tuesday's Panther win at the Owatonna High School ended a historic season for the Huskies. Owatonna won the first Big Nine title and set a school record with 12 wins. The season ended at 12-2.

According to the Minnesota State High School League website, Owatonna's 12 seniors include Cienna Raden, Ari Olson, Laura Bloomenrader, Rebecca Sedivy, Meghan Rethemeier, Meghan Schuler, Gabi Zeman, Katie Skalicky, Emma Smith, Brooke Otterson, Cheyenne Krampitz and Kayla Gryniewski.

The Owatonna boys were tied 6-6 at the half in Farmington in the four-five seeded matchup. The Tigers held the Huskies to just a pair of goals in the second half and beat Owatonna 12-8. OHS ended the season at 8-6. The high school league website lists Owatonna's seniors as Zach Korpi, Joel Jandt, Nolan Schue and Austin Abbas.

Owatonna is not the only Big Nine team having a tough time against the South Suburban Conference. In head-to-head games in lacrosse, baseball and softball the Big Nine is 0-11 versus South Suburban teams this spring.
