It should have been a fun weekend for a man from Lakeville participating in a Regatta in Ontario on Saturday afternoon. Instead something went wrong.

William Pearson, 69, was taking part in the Rideau Ferry Regatta on Lower Rideau Lake on Saturday afternoon. His boat became airborne during the race and that caused him to be ejected.

According to KSTP and Ontario authorities, he sustained major injuries and was pronounced dead after he was taken to a local hospital.

The incident is still under investigation.
